Outdoor Worship Continues As we move into fall, we will gather outside–weather permitting–through the end of the month. It may be chilly, so just pretend you’re attending a Packers home game and bundle up to enjoy the fellowship of the church. No RSVP Required Since our attendance at both services is stable, we will no longer require RSVPs for our Sunday services. Parking Reminder There is no parking on the north side of 68th Street, so please park on the south side of 68th, or either side of 3rd Avenue. You May......

What to Expect

Parishioner Planning for our Outdoor Services We have missed meeting together and seeing each other face to face.  Paul tells the Hebrews to not neglect meeting together so that we can encourage each other (Hebrews 10:25).  We have developed two options for worship that will meet your comfort level for meeting face to face.   We will have two worship services on the 5th. The early service is best suited for those who need stricter adherence to mask wearing and social distancing. The second service will offer a more relaxed setting that permits......

Outdoor Service, July 5th

Light of Christ is pleased to announce two outdoor services for July 5, 2020, to be held at the Olsen home in Kenosha. Since best practices continue to evolve and we have people at higher and lower risk within our congregation, we are providing 2 services: one for those at higher risk wishing or who wish to take more precautions and one for those at lower risk with less precautions. If you are at high risk or uncertain about attending either service, our 10:30 service will be available via Zoom. 9:00 AM service......

May 16, 2020 Brothers and sisters, With the overturning of the Governor’s stay at home order, many are asking if we plan to meet soon? We had just begun our scenario planning for reopening, in light of the Federal Guidelines, gating criteria and phasing, when the WI Supreme Court passed down its ruling. There are two reasons why the ruling is unlikely to change our planning or accelerate our return to Simmons: First, we have been informed by the County that it will observe the original order’s guidelines for reopening as “best......

God's Greatest Gift - Christmas Eve Giving

In late 2015, Racine Vocational Ministry and a group of Kenosha citizens, under the leadership of District Attorney Michael Graveley and the Kenosha County Health Department, met to address the issues of gun violence and public health. In March of 2016, gifts from Kenosha churches St. Matthew’s Episcopal Church and St. Mary’s Lutheran Church, and a Kenosha board member gave RVM the opportunity to begin offering services in......

For those of you who have been helping lead, Julie will send out the lesson plan in the next couple of days, but we wanted to go ahead and give you an important update on the block party and other upcoming plans. One of the most important lessons we’ve learned through our work at Parish House is to operate within the resources we have, rather than trying to do too much......

This year Light of Christ will be sending the money gathered in the Good Friday Gift to the persecuted church in Syria and Iraq. On behalf of our fellow Christians, Archbishop Foley appeals to Anglicans around the nation: In Syria many of our brothers and sisters are engulfed by an ongoing humanitarian crisis. Areas of Aleppo that are home to around 400,000 Christians have been besieged and surrounded by the rebels for months. Many Christians have become malnourished owing to shortages and skyrocketing prices of food and other essentials. Access to water,......

Holy Week is approaching and this year the Olsen house will be HQ for food during the week. This is a way for us to provide for the hardworking tech people, musicians, readers, clergy, and coordinators who put so many hours into making Holy Week happen. If you are interested, we could use help in 3 ways: 1. Purchase food 2. Make food or baked goods/desserts 3. Clean-up help right before services start on Thursday, Friday or Saturday–mainly to put food away in the fridge and tidy up. If you would like......
